      Southbay San Diego Sports Heroes flyer

      Exhibition Dates: September 7th -28th, 2024
      Opening Sports Banquet and Barbeque Fundraiser:  Saturday, Sept. 7, 4pm – 8pm

      Fore!  Touchdown!  Home Run!  The Bonita Museum & Cultural Center proudly presents an exciting exhibition called “Southbay Sports Heroes” which will highlight southbay San Diego athletes and coaches.  Guests will enjoy photos and memorabilia of sports heroes such as Olympian Gail Devers, Golfer Billy Casper, Alex Smith and the Park View Little League World Champions. The exhibition will be presented from September 7, 2024 – September 28, 2024.  Admission is FREE.

      Private Opening Sports Banquet and Barbeque Fundraiser:  Saturday, Sept. 7, 4pm – 8pm at the Bonita Museum & Cultural Center.  Tickets:  $75 Adults.  Child Ticket – $35 (Ages 6 to 12).  Children under 5 years old are FREE.  Register at the link above or at the museum.

      Billy Casper

      South Bay legend Billy Casper was a professional golfer from 1956-1975. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1978.

       

      Bryan Wagner was an NFL punter from 1985-1996. He played for the Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers, and San Diego Chargers. Bryan went to the Superbowl with the San Diego Chargers in 1994. He is a Hilltop High School Alumni and has been their Head Football coach since 2020.

      Manny Melchor was a professional boxer from 1987 to 2002. He held the IBF mini flyweight title in 1992. After his career, he became a boxing trainer and resides in the South Bay San Diego.
